Signs: Vatican officially recognizes the state of Palestine

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican officially recognized the state of Palestine in a new treaty finalized Wednesday, immediately sparking Israeli ire and accusations that the move hurt peace prospects.

The treaty, which concerns the activities of the Catholic Church in Palestinian territory, makes clear that the Holy See has switched its diplomatic recognition from the Palestine Liberation Organization to the state of Palestine.

The Vatican had welcomed the decision by the U.N. General Assembly in 2012 to recognize a Palestinian state. But the treaty is the first legal document negotiated between the Holy See and the Palestinian state and constitutes official diplomatic recognition.

“Yes, it’s a recognition that the state exists,” said the Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi.

The Israeli foreign ministry said it was “disappointed” by the development.

… The treaty was finalized days before Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas visits Pope Francis at the Vatican. Abbas is heading to Rome to attend Francis’ canonization Sunday of two new saints from the Holy Land.

… During Pope Francis’ 2014 visit to the Holy Land, the Vatican’s official program referred to Abbas as the president of the “state of Palestine.” In the Vatican’s latest yearbook, the Palestinian ambassador to the Holy See is listed as representing “Palestine (state of).”

The Vatican’s foreign minister, Monsignor Antoine Camilleri, acknowledged the change in status, given that the treaty was initially inked with the PLO and is now being finalized with the “state of Palestine.” But he said the shift was simply in line with the Holy See’s position.

  • The matter is certainly not a simple one because the Lord God Himself drove the Isaelites off the land and allowed pagans to occupy the land at least twice, once in the Babylonian assault and captivity and once against after Our Lord was rejected by the nation when Heaven used Titus the pagan Roman to destroy the land with a million Jews driving most of the rest out of the land which again left the land for habitation by pagans for nearly 2000 years. Do the Jews yet in unbelief really have a “right” to this land? This seems like a misguided Evangelical Protestant notion, even to the extent of having the Jews in unbelief building a temple with a sacrificial system in flagrant repudiation of the Sacrifice of Christ and calling this “the Holy Place” referred to by Our Lord in Matthew 24:15 and the “temple of God” by Paul in 2 Thess. 2:4!

    This seems also to ignore the horrendous injustice to the local Palestinians in the establishment of the Jewish state in 1948. While we must admit God allowed this, it is no sign this was any justified move especially it being done by those with no interest whatever in the Jewish people but only to use them to further their own globalist ends.

    That being said it is hardly believable that this present gesture to the Palestinians by the CIA controlled Vatican and its globalist apostate head is really for their benefit but only another move to fulfill their agenda which we will see is as calloused toward the Jewish people as was the globalists behind the persecutions of the Jews that was used by the globalists to create the Jewish state in the first place. It is to be noted that the Church (Pius XI or XII) who strongly opposed the formation of the Jewish state for the Holy Father saw the evil of the plan behind the Zionist movement which had nothing to do with the welfare of the common Jew.

  • I would very much like to understand this difficult question about the biblical precedents of the Jews (decendants of Jacob/Israel) to the land… My problem about the promises that God made to Abraham, is that Ismael and his offspring (the Arabs and later the Muslims… Edomites, Ismailites etc) are Abraham’s descendants too. I don’t say this to make another precedent, but because I don’t understand that all these quotes from Genesis (until chap.26) seem to be used in favour of the Jews only, while they speak of all of Abraham’s descendants. Can anyone explain please? Thank you!

      The Jewish people need to be protected and the solution is NOT for a two state treaty but for a forcing of the Zionists who control Israel to allow an integration of the Palestinian populations with the Jewish populations by ending their apartheid state with its radical racism, exploitation and violence against the Palestinians. This can be done because the government owns all property and it is leased out to its citizens.   • The promises of the Abrahamic covenant were to those through his son Isaac and his son Jacob, but of those of their children who lived in faith. Jeremiah’s generation had forsaken the faith and thus were driven from the land. The generation that lived in Our Lord’s day also did not respond nationally to their Messiah so they were driven off the land and the Church became the new Israel. While the Old Covenant is done away with and invalid (contrary to what the apostate “progressive” katholics claim), the promise is clearly conveyed to us by St. Paul that God is not through with his plan for the Jewish people and God will bring a remnant of them to repentance and to their intended prominent place in the Church (Romans 11; Zechariah 12-13).

    I think it is very important to understand that the present Jewish population were manipulated by their enemies (Jews of the “synagogue of Satan” – Satanists: “Zionists” to settle Palestine in order to allow the creation of the final planned war between Israel and the Arabs as detailed in a letter by the prominent Satanist / illuminatist Albert Pike in the 1870’s. Some have tried to debunk the letter but its unfolding over the years demonstrates it’s authentic. This Zionist state in Palestine has been a set up, allowed by God, for them to be betrayed by the Anti-Christ, in order to bring them to faith in Christ. What Francis is now doing is the beginning of that betrayal so the posting above has great importance but must be a bit illuminated.
